- Start Outlok and Select to Create a New Business ContacDatabase.
- Exit Outlook
- Stop the SQLSERVER (MSSMLBIZ) service (Start, Right click Computer/Services and Applications/Services)
- Copy the database and log file:
The standard file names are:
MSSmallBusiness.mdf (database)
MSSmallBusiness.ldf (log file)
And those can be found under:
Windows XP
C:Documents and SettingsLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftBusiness Contact Manager
Windows Vista and Windows 7
C:UsersAppDataLocalMicrosoftBusiness Contact Manager
- Assign proper file system access rights on the database files:
Network Service – Full Control
SQLServer2005MSSQLUser$yourmachinename$mssmlbiz – Full Control
Administrators – Full Control
- Download and install the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express (there is a 32-bit and 64-bit version available, which one you will use depends if you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows). On Windows 7 in order to install properly right click the installation file and select Run as admin
-
Start the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express admin tool
(Start/Microsoft SQL Server Express/right click SQL Server Configuration Manager and select Run As Administrator ) -
Attach the database (Right click Database and select Attach) and supply the path to your database and log file.
-
Shrink both your Files and your Database with the GUI tools
-
Return to Outlook 2010, and attempt your migration again.
Good luck
