If you are into video games, then you most likely have an Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 2 gaming system. Look out because the PlayStation 3 or PS3 has a new look. New technology is getting thinner and smaller, and now video game consoles are fitting into the same mold as smartphones and tablets.
PS3 is slimmed down and amazingly kept the same features as its predecessors. You can still enjoy a full gaming library and all the streaming services such as NFL Sunday Ticket, Netflix and Amazon. Although the PS3 has shrunk in size the price has not. You can look forward to dropping $269 on the new PS3. There are also some drawbacks such as no HD cables and no infrared IR port. Ultimately you are paying for the weight loss, especially since Sony has not confirmed a PlayStation 4 release. The PS3 is offered in two bundle-only packages. The first wave shipped on September 25th for 4270 and included a 250GB model with Uncharted 3 and the downloadable game Dust 514. The second bundle will sale for $300 and it includes a 500GB model with the game Assassin’s Creed 3. The release date is October 30th.
The new Super Slim PS3 measures at 11.4 inches wide by 2.36 inches tall and 9.05 inches deep. Instead of a slot-loading disc tray, Sony has incorporated a non-motorized sliding disc cover. The system is completely analog which mean s you can manually open it. PS3 can sit vertically or horizontally; however, please keep in mind that it is top-loading if you store it in a cabinet or shelf. It comes with two USB ports, Ethernet, HDMI, optical out and an AV multi out. Although the included composite cable doesn’t help with an HD signal, the PS3 is still one of the most powerful gaming systems around.
With Christmas almost here, the new simmer PS3 gives you something to think about. When your child starts dropping PS3 hints you have more options. Happy video game playing everyone!
