The Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch Will Hit the Market Next Week
Those of you waiting on Apple’s iWatch might have to iWait just a little longer, or you can move to the dark side and try another smartwatch. Better yet, you can try the new Samsung Galaxy Gear when it crosses the finish line into the checkout line on its release next Wednesday, September 4, 2013. Samsung has had a great run with the Galaxy series of smart devices including smartphones and tablets. Now they are ready to bring a prize fighter to the ring of smartwatches. trueITpros takes a closer look at this contender before the real comparisons begin.
Samsung Galaxy Gear, of course, will offer all the wonderful features that other branded smartwatches provide. However, the Galaxy Gear is more of a concept device instead of being a watchphone. Nope…don’t think about it in that sense. The Galaxy Gear will act more like a digital buddy to your smartphone. For example, you will be able to receive your tweets, Facebook notifications and text messages on your wrist. Then there are the typical features such as having the capabilities to answer your cell phone, check email and surf the Internet from your wrist as well.
Samsung has been very secretive about the Galaxy Gear, not allowing or confirming any speculation about what the smartwatch will do for consumers that love tech gadgets. Although this is very strategic on their part, especially since the release of the Galaxy Gear is on the threshold of the IFA trade show in Berlin. Sorry Apple, but this might count as a…Burn! We can only imagine the rumors are the gospel truth because of what the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy Note II can do. If you own anything from the galaxy series of products, just think about all the amazing apps. You can receive and share data from anywhere with just a few swipes. Why not on a smartwatch too? Plus Samsung is also on the verge of dropping the Galaxy Note III like an atomic bomb. Take cover; it’s raining apps.
Sony’s smartwatch had its 15 minutes of fame. And don’t misunderstand, it is a cool device. In fact it really started this race, but now it’s time for the real competition to begin. Can you wait to see how Apple will compare to all the android smartwatches including the Galaxy Gear? Time will tell.
