Even IT teams experience problems that make us CRAZY. The following error 0x80040115 error with our Windows 7 computers was causing us headaches.
Issue: Outlook would report error when trying to “SEND” emails only. Closing and re-opening Outlook seemed to resolve this issue. We were connecting to our Exchange server via RPC over HTTPS.
Resolution: Apparently Vista and Win7 have a problem with port 1723. A quick search (well, maybe not so quick) help us find this article from Microsoft. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939321.
In short, run ‘netsh advfirewall set global statefulpptp disable’ will adjust your firewall settings. You can also set this globally via GPC.


We have the same issue with Office 2013 and Office365 mailboxes.
The netsh command did not resolve the issue.
